Hebron Raids Hit Day 7 as Israeli Forces Arrest at Least 13 Palestinians
Three of those detained were brothers, according to a Palestinian prisoners’ media office and local sources. The sources also said troops arrested paramedic and anti-settlement activist Bashar al-Qaryouti.
Hebron: gates shut, homes taken
In Hebron, troops kept up raids and closures, sealing the Old City behind iron gates and seizing Palestinian homes in the Jalda and Ain Deir Baha neighborhoods to use as military barracks, local sources told a Turkish news agency.
Hebron Municipality said on Tuesday that the raids had displaced nearly 5,000 Palestinians, or 780 families.
What triggered the operation
The offensive began Friday after two Palestinians carried out an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three. The army later killed both attackers.
From Friday through Wednesday, Israeli forces arrested 110 Palestinians, the Palestinian Prisoner Society said.
Demolitions in Salfit
In the Salfit area, Israeli forces demolished two Palestinian homes and bulldozed land in the town of Deir Ballut, municipal official Jihad Yassin told the same Turkish news agency. He said the forces also bulldozed water lines, citing construction without a permit, and estimated that around 100 demolition notices have been issued in the town.
The latest incidents come amid intensified Israeli army raids and settler attacks on Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the war in Gaza began in October 2023.
